Juventus is returning to the solid and pragmatic team that for decades dominated Italy and was a feared rival in Europe. Against PSV, the team coached by Thiago Motta showed a more balanced and effective version, winning 2-1 at home to move them closer to the round of 16 of the Champions League. With goals from Weston McKennie and Samuel Mbangula, the 'Vecchia Signora' imposed their hierarchy in a match where strategy and patience were key to come out on top.
The match had some tense moments, with PSV trying to equalize and Juventus showing their ability to adapt to different scenarios. Although it was not a brilliant display in terms of attacking play, the Italian team was able to strike at the right moments, maintaining its essence as a competitive team.
McKennie Breaks Through With A Timely Goal
From the start, Juventus showed more intent to control the pace of the match. With a well-distributed midfield and full-backs joining the attack, the team sought to exploit the spaces in PSV's defense. However, the defensive solidity of the Dutch side meant that chances were few and far between in the opening minutes.
It was a PSV error that allowed the Italians to open the scoring. Federico Gatti pressed at the start and won the ball back in a dangerous area. His cross was denied by goalkeeper Benítez, but the rebound fell to McKennie, who made no mistake with a powerful shot to make it 1-0.
This goal gave Juventus confidence, and from then on they managed the game better. With a well-placed defense and quick transitions, they managed to prevent PSV from generating constant danger. Luuk de Jong and Johan Bakayoko tried to create chances for the Dutch team, but the Juventus defense, led by Bremer and Gatti, was attentive to cut off any attempt at a reaction.
Perisic Equalizes, But Juventus Will Not Give Up
Despite Juventus' control, PSV did not give up and found the equalizer in the second half with a goal by Ivan Perisic. The former Inter player took advantage of a loose ball in the box to fire a tight shot that beat Di Gregorio, silencing the Juventus stadium for a few moments.
The equalizer forced the 'Vecchia Signora' to react. Thiago Motta moved the bench and brought on players like Conceição and Vlahovic, looking for more depth in attack. Juventus regained their intensity and began to approach the opponent's area with greater determination.

Mbangula Sentences Victory
Just when the match seemed headed for a draw, Samuel Mbangula came on to give Juventus the victory. Conceicao's move down the right flank saw the ball reach the box and, after a rebound from the defense, the young Belgian striker took advantage of the rebound to score with precision to make it 2-1.
This goal was a definitive blow for PSV, who tried to react in the final minutes, but the Juventus defense held firm and secured the win. The win puts Juventus in a favorable position for the second leg in Eindhoven.
Beyond the result, the Italian team's performance left a good impression. Defensive solidity, balance in midfield and the ability to take advantage of the opponent's mistakes were key factors for the victory. Although there are still areas for improvement, the 'Vecchia Signora' showed that they are still a team with identity and capable of competing at the highest European level.
Now, the challenge will be to maintain this mentality in the second leg, where PSV will be looking for a comeback at home. If Juventus maintain the order and effectiveness they showed in Turin, they will have a good chance of sealing their place in the round of 16 and advancing further in the Champions League.
