What you need to know prior to the start of the Caribbean Series 2025

|

A new edition of the Caribbean Series is just around the corner. Baseball lovers will be able to enjoy this event like never before, as the 2025 edition of the baseball classic will have many reasons that will make it a must-see for all of them.

The Caribbean Series that begins this Friday in Mexicali will have some adjustments, particularly with respect to the teams that will participate and therefore with the format of the competition. Contrary to what happened in 2024, in which seven teams participated, this time there will only be five teams that will take part in the event.

With this adjustment, we will have a change in the format, which will consist of each team playing each of its rivals once in the first round, in order to move on to the semifinals. There will be a third place game and a championship game, all to be held at the Eagles' Nest Stadium in Baja California, Mexico.

Participating teams

For the first time in history, the Caribbean Series will have a team from Japan as a guest. The Japan Breeze, a combination of different leagues from that country, will be participating in the event to increase the visibility of the event in the world.

The countries belonging to the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation that are sending teams to the tournament are:

  • Mexico (host): Charros de Jalisco
  • Puerto Rico: Indios de Mayagüez
  • Dominican Republic: Leones del Escogido
  • Venezuela: Cardenales de Lara.

*The 2024 champion, Tiburones de la Guaira, will not be able to defend its title after failing to qualify for this edition.
